Lupara Studios

Posted by Adam  Published in Technology

Keep on eye on them at http://www.luparastudios.com/. They are new to the MMO space, but what I have had the privilege to see looks really interesting.

Their website is being worked on, so expect some updates in the coming weeks.

Heartbleed Bug

Posted by Adam  Published in Technology

The Heartbleed Bug is a serious vulnerability in the popular OpenSSL cryptographic software library. This weakness allows stealing the information protected, under normal conditions, by the SSL/TLS encryption used to secure the Internet. SSL/TLS provides communication security and privacy over the Internet for applications such as web, email, instant messaging (IM) and some virtual private networks (VPNs).

OUYA: A New Kind of Video Game Console by OUYA » Final Fantasy comes to OUYA — Kickstarter

OUYA: A New Kind of Video Game Console by OUYA » Final Fantasy comes to OUYA — Kickstarter.

Is anyone out there actually going to be picking up one of these things? I think most people are in the Wii360 group. Will a console that essentially plays glorified Android games really be worth adding to the already packed home entertainment center?

I’d like to get the chance to check one out, but I just don’t know if it’s worth it at this time.

What Google Chrome will mean for cyber-security – tech – 19 July 2009 – New Scientist

Posted by Adam  Published in Technology

The gauntlet has been thrown!

While further details on the Chrome OS are scant, Linus Upson, Google’s engineering director, made one major promise: “We are completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It should just work.”

Will running an desktop portal style OS in the Cloud really allow a secure Internet experience, or is Google making much the same claims as Apple when it released OS X?  Granted, by its design nature, it will be inherently more secure than Windows is now, but I have a hard time believing it will put an end to the issues we currently see.  Check the article for more information.

For all you iPhone/iPod Touch users

Posted by Adam  Published in Technology

I myself do not own an iPhone (thanks for having no coverage in my area AT&T!).  I also do not own an iPod Touch, as there is the rumor of Verizon getting an iPhone.  Just because I don’t own one, does not mean I don’t keep up to date on them.  As such, when I came across this, I wanted to share.  It’s the top 7 Games for your iPhone/iPod Touch.

A new laptop with old devices

Posted by Adam  Published in Technology

I’m in the market of upgrading my oldest computer, a 10 year old Apple iBook.  Although the unti still runs, it is at its limit in handling todays web standards, and I’m looking at a portable solution for video editing as well.  I plan to upgrade to a MacBook Pro in the next month or so.  The biggest issue is that I have several external Firewire 400 drives as well as a digital camcorder that supports iLink.  I’ve been looking at several options, and finally found what I think is the best solution, but don’t take my word for it.  Watch the video and learn more.
